Important fitment notes
- Compatibility: For Triumph Speed Twin 1200 2019–2020 with the matching original covers and fixing positions listed above. This listing covers the stated generation; a shared engine capacity does not establish fitment to another model or later generation.
- Verify before fitting: Match the original fixing position and cover arrangement. Modified or aftermarket covers may require different hardware.
- Defined scope: The kit replaces the listed cover, breather, coolant-return elbow and sump fixings. It does not include cam-cover bolts, crankcase-half joining bolts, internal oil/water-pump mountings, cover-badge bolts, decorative cover-panel fixings, cable-bracket bolts, sprocket-mesh fixings or sump-plate fixings.
- Exclusions: Casings, covers, gaskets, seals, locating dowels, drain plugs and internal engine components are not included.
- Photographs: Hardware photographs may be generic. Use the contents table for the supplied quantities and intended locations.
Model-specific engine cover replacements
This is a location-based engine cover bolt kit for the listed Speed Twin 1200 generation. Keep each casing group separate during fitting. The clutch and alternator covers share one original bolt reference, but the allocated quantities belong to different covers. The sprocket cover and sump also share a reference, with separate quantities shown in the table.
Materials and appearance: The replacement bolts are stainless steel. Their head appearance may differ from Triumph’s originals. Stainless steel describes the material; it does not by itself establish equivalent mechanical strength.
When should you replace engine casing bolts?
- Damaged heads or threads: Inspect worn fixings and the casing threads before choosing replacements.
- Missing bolts: Identify the original location rather than substituting unrelated hardware.
- Cover servicing: Check the bolts, sealing faces and supporting components whenever a cover is removed.
Replacement bolts cannot repair cracked casings, stripped threads or distorted covers. Find the cause of looseness or leakage before reassembly.
Fitting information
- Preparation: Support the motorcycle securely, allow it to cool and follow Triumph’s workshop procedure for each fitting.
- Correct locations: Match each replacement to its allocated original position and start the correct bolts by hand. Do not pull a misaligned cover into place with a bolt.
- Sealing arrangements: Retain the required locating arrangements and renew disturbed gaskets or seals where specified.
- Tightening and thread condition: Follow Triumph’s specified tightening order, torque and thread condition. Some original fixing references specify a thread treatment. The included anti-seize pack is not an instruction to lubricate every bolt or substitute for a specified treatment.
- Final checks: Complete the required fluid draining, refilling and leak checks for any disturbed cover or coolant fitting. Have uncertain work completed or checked by a qualified motorcycle technician.
For background, read our guide to fitting stainless steel motorcycle bolts. Triumph’s workshop procedure takes precedence.
Customer questions
How many bolts are included?
The kit contains 53x bolts: 15x clutch-cover bolts, 10x alternator-cover bolts, 4x sprocket-cover bolts, 7x breather-plate bolts, 1x coolant-return elbow bolt and 16x sump bolts. Also included is 1x Biker Bling anti-seize compound pack (7 g).
Does this kit include internal water-pump bolts or the drain plug?
No. The internal oil/water-pump assembly mountings and drain plug are outside this external-cover kit. Dowels, gaskets and seals are also excluded.
Will the same kit fit every Triumph 1200 twin?
Do not select a kit by engine capacity alone. Check the model, generation, original covers and listed fixing references against the motorcycle being serviced.
