- Corroded or damaged heads: Inspect worn drive recesses before removing cap-assembly fixings.
- Missing hardware: Restore the correct fixing arrangement shown in the drawing.
- Fuel-cap servicing: Check the cap, seals and mounting threads before refitting.
Replacement bolts cannot repair a leaking seal, damaged lock, distorted cap assembly or stripped mounting thread.
Fitting information
Follow Triumph’s procedure for the exact cap assembly. Work in a ventilated area away from ignition sources and keep dirt, metal particles and fitting compounds out of the tank. Match the two bolt groups to their original positions and retain sound original seals and supporting parts where specified. Start the correct bolts by hand and follow the specified thread condition and tightening instructions; do not overtighten or force a binding bolt. Use anti-seize only where appropriate. Check the cap opens, closes, locks and seals correctly before use. Investigate any fuel leak before riding.
