Head style and materials
The stainless steel bolts have larger heads measuring either 14 mm in diameter. These measurements refer to the bolt heads, not the threaded shafts. The bolts are not shouldered, and their larger-head appearance is not a like-for-like copy of every original Aprilia fastener. This is an aftermarket Biker Bling kit, not genuine Aprilia equipment.
When should you replace fairing and bodywork bolts?
- Corroded or damaged fasteners: Worn heads or damaged threads can make bodywork difficult to remove or refit.
- Missing bolts or nuts: Check each panel and the mirror mounting points for secure fixing before riding.
- During bodywork maintenance: Inspect the bolts, nylon washers and mounting holes whenever panels or the mudguard are removed.
Replacement fasteners will not repair cracked panels, damaged mounting points or stripped threads.
Fitting the fairing bolt kit
Use the labelled bags to identify the appropriate fixing positions. Align panels and brackets before inserting the bolts, start each fastener by hand and use the supplied nylon washers where appropriate. Take care not to overtighten into plastic or damaged threads. Secure the mirrors with their specified bolts and nuts and check that the mirrors and bodywork are firmly mounted before riding. Follow Aprilia’s workshop instructions wherever a specific fitting procedure applies. If a mounting point is damaged or a fixing position is uncertain, seek advice from a qualified motorcycle technician.
